Are your products certified organic, local and sustainable?

Our sleepwear is made by talented seamstresses based in the Denver-metro area. We believe in supporting our local economy and try to do business as close to home as possible. Everything we use from fabric, zippers, labels and packaging are all sourced in the US. Our organic cotton is free of synthetics, pesticides and flame-retardants. The small amount of dyed fabric we use is colored using natural, low-energy, non-metal, low-impact dyes.

The organic cotton fabric used by Snug Organics is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standards or GOTS.  It is grown in India, certified in the Netherlands and sourced in the US. Our yarn vendor can produce traceability of their yarn from the organic cotton fiber bale number to the finished yarn size and lot number that we purchase. Furthermore, our yarn spinner is also GOTS certified. We purchase our fabric in accordance with the American Organic Standards.

How should I wash organic cotton sherpa and how should I remove stains?

Each Snug Organics sherpa sleeper is made using top-quality organic cotton fabrics for durability, longevity and comfort. However, these garments need the proper care to maximize use and to maintain the original look and fit. We recommend treating our sleepers as delicates, meaning machine washing on delicate or a cycle with low agitation in cold water and line dry. Conventional cotton apparel is generally treated with chemicals to reduce the shrinkage effects of heat. Organic cotton is not treated, so high heat will cause it to shrink significantly.

Using an eco-friendly laundry detergent with vinegar as a fabric softener will further help to maintain the integrity of the garment. For stains use an oxygen bleach, such as BioClean or OxyClean. Organic cotton will absorb chemicals in ordinary detergents. Investing in an organic cotton garment and then laundering it in a chemical pool defeats the purpose. Commercial detergents also contribute to skin and respiratory conditions in children.

What size should I order?

If in doubt, always size up.  If you have a child in between sizes, size up.  Snug Organics sleepwear is made according to snug-fit measurements put into place by the CPSC to comply with CFR 1516/1616. By law, if children’s sleepwear is not covered in flame-retardant chemicals and is made of a natural fiber it must be ‘snug-fitting’ from sizes 9 months to 14 years. The measurements are snug and it may be necessary to size up, especially for chubbier babies. The upper arm measurement is particularly tight, but is required by law. Most children actually feel safe and secure in a snug-fitting pair of pajamas that stay in place as they twist and turn during the night.  They usually fit the average child just fine. The following is a size chart including these measurements in centimeters (garment placed on a horizontal, flat surface.)  Sizes are comparable to any other 100% cotton snug-fit pajama carrying this tag:

Why is your sleepwear so snug-fitting?

Our sleepwear is snug-fitting because it’s the law. CFR 1516/1616 states that children’s sleepwear must be flame-resistant or snug-fitting. In order to offer customers a natural fiber without chemicals or synthetics like modacrylic and polyester, we must comply with the snug-fit measurements put into place by the CPSC.  Although it may be necessary to size up for some children, you can be certain that your child is safe in our sleepwear.

What if I don’t want to use PayPal?

No problem, we’ve just updated our shopping cart and your entire transaction will be completed on our website. You will not be transferred over to PayPal, but if you’d still like to use your PayPal account you can! Our website is secure and protects your privacy.

Why don’t you carry pink?

We believe in a “Buy Better, Buy Less” philosophy. Our slogan “Universal Goodness” means high-quality fabrics, simple designs and unisex colors that can be used by more than one child. Our products can be passed down to siblings, cousins, friends and neighbors, girl or boy. This makes the investment well worth it. (Some of our summer sleepwear is sold in gender-specific color choices.)

Do your sleepers have feet?

Our 3m and 6m sleepers have feet for ease in dressing an infant during the cold weather months. Sizes 12m to 5T do not have feet and are more practical for quick growing toddlers who are just beginning to walk. We have an amazing referral for slippers if you’re worried about cold little feet. What is your return/exchange policy and how do I go about returning or exchanging an item?

All returns must be postmarked within 30 days. Items must be in new, unused and unwashed condition. Customers are responsible for shipping costs for returning products, but requested exchange items are shipped back to the customer ground, free of charge. Please include a copy of your packing slip so that we may quickly process your return or exchange. When your items are received and verified, we will then process your exchange or issue a refund for the amount of the merchandise returned. Please send returns and exchanges to: Snug Organics-Returns, 484 S. Emerson St., Denver, CO 80209.

Do you sell wholesale?

Yes, we have decided to embark on this new challenge.  Click on the Wholesale button on our website and fill out an application. If approved, you will be able to log-in and order our sleepwear for your store. We cannot guarantee approval to all stores. We are a small operation and our supplies are limited.  We do not offer drop ship services.

Why should I invest in organic sleepwear?

To exclusively dress your child in organic baby clothes and outfit their nurseries with organic baby bedding can be more expensive. However, by making a commitment to organic sleepwear, at least 50% of your child’s day will be spent in organics. The investment becomes minimal when looking at the harmful effects of flame-retardants, synthetics and pesticides.
